Silje and Spencer got hitched at the Laurelhurst Club on Halloween and were a complete blast to work with. Both in the tattoo industry, it was a lot of fun admiring the beautiful ink each was sporting - I have such a soft spot for tattooed brides! Total babes. And Silje's vintage dress? Seriously stunning! We had such a great time that we wanted to take some day-after photos to prolong the love a little longer, and that's just what we did.
I'm excited to share this fun wedding I photographed over the summer in Washington on Whidbey Island with these two wonderful souls! I first met Kate and Nate in San Francisco when I flew down for their engagement photos and knew immediately we'd get along great. Their humor and tenderness for each other made working together a true delight. I love Kate's choice to get ready on an alpaca farm down the street from the wedding venue - such a fun and unique idea! Congratulations again, lovebirds.
One of the best parts of being a photographer is getting adventurous clients that are willing to go the distance for some truly memorable photos. Beth and Benjamin wanted their engagement session to document a new experience, so we decided to road trip out to the John Day Fossil Beds just past Bend, OR to see the Painted Hills. Known for their vivid colors caused by layers of volcanic ash mixing with various types of soil and minerals, this engagement session was easily one of the most epic shoots I've ever done! Beth and Benjamin are two beautiful souls and it was heartwarming to watch such genuine love and affection.
Out of all the weddings I've ever been a part of, this one definitely goes down in history as unforgettable. Adrien and Nate have been dear friends of mine for years and it was an honor to play a role in such a special part of their lives. Both touring musicians and songwriters fiercely committed to their local Iowa music scene, you can find Nate fronting the band Mumford's, while Adrien is lead singer for the band Trouble Lights. True to form, Nate propsosed while Adrien was on stage performing at the annual 80/35 Music Festival in Des Moines! I could spend a lot of time talking about these two and how insanely talented and hardworking they are, but what I really want to emphasize is their overwhelming kindness. I am lucky to call these people friends, a sentiment no doubt shared by every single guest at that wedding. Powered by DIY, their rustic barn venue was adorned with fringe banners handmade by friends and incredible floral arrangements (locally grown of course!). In addition to enjoying an awesome DJ, guests were treated to their own private concert when local bands and longtime friends of the bride and groom (Poison Control Center and Utopia Park) performed at the wedding reception. And of course it wouldn't be a wedding without a shirtless crowd surfing groom, right? Congratulations Adrien and Nate! I love you both dearly and am so proud to share these photos.
I had the best time exploring San Francisco with these two for their engagement photos! After meeting in Union Square, Kate and Nate lead me to a few truly stunning cliffs along the beach where we wandered around some cool abandoned military bunkers. Not long after we zipped over to the Sutro Bath Ruins near Golden Gate Park and WOW! What an amazing place to explore! Kate and Nate were such delights to spend the day with and didn't seem to mind one bit when I had them zig zagging all over town to chase the last bit of sunlight before that beautiful San Francisco fog devoured it for the evening. Thank you guys for being so darn cool and for introducing me to the best burrito truck of my life. Can't wait for the big day this August!
